Danni Nicholls is overcoming intrusive thoughts of self-doubt and finding her voice with new release Little Fictions.
Self-doubt feels like an inevitable part of the human condition, but it’s a feeling that Danni Nicholls wants to empower us to overcome. Having experienced her own defining moments of self-sabotage, Danni is actively choosing to favour the positive voice in her head and is taking a stand against intrusive thoughts that threaten to hold her back with her uplifting new release Little Fictions.
Having been nominated for the Album, Artist and Song of the Year categories at the Americana Music Association UK awards in 2017, 2018 and 2020 respectively, the talent of Bedfordshire based artist Danni Nicholls is no secret. She emerged from the pandemic with a mindset and is driven by a resolve that though doubt cannot be avoided, life is too short and fragile to linger there. Citing Brandi Carlile and KT Tunstall as important personal and musical influences, she is proud to be counted amongst the increasing list of LGBTQIA+ identifying artists and recognises the importance of representation.
With intimate acoustic guitar, driving 6/8 drum groove, sweeping strings and Danni’s soaring vocals, the new track pulls notable influence from the worlds of folk, pop and Memphis R&B, and also saw her debut in the lead producer’s seat. The power of Danni’s true voice both figuratively and literally is brought to the forefront with a new kind of force that is hard to ignore.
About the track she explains: “To be heading back out on tour with my band and a brand new single after so long is extremely exciting and empowering. I’m so glad to finally share Little Fictions. I hope it brings some joy and comfort.”
