Legendary pop artist Ruby Mazur, best known as the creator of the original “mouth & tongue” image designed for The Rolling Stones, first used on the “Tumbling Dice” record sleeve in 1972, is currently enjoying the 50th Anniversary of his iconic image, with new 2022 exhibits in Hawaii, Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe.

Following his highly-successful 2021 exhibits at Hawaii’s Holle Fine Art gallery on the island of Maui, where he’s been living for the past 16 years, acclaimed pop artist Ruby Mazur is now debuting his all new series of original oil on canvas paintings, along with color prints and special edition giclee prints, at Holle Fine Art at 839 Front Street in Lahaina, HI, with a two-day opening on June 3rd and 4th, 2022 and will remain on exhibit through the summer.

Many of the paintings in his latest series are new variations on the iconic “mouth and tongue” image he created back in 1972, which has endured over the last 50 years…much like the band he designed it for…with continuous demand from pop art fans and collectors. Among the new pieces he’ll unveil at the June 3rd & 4th opening will be an original “Mouth & Tongue” Dice painting he just finished.

Mazur’s new series will then move on for two simultaneous exhibit openings in Las Vegas, NV at the Signature Gallery in the Venetian Hotel on June 24th & 25th, where he’ll unveil his new “Gamblin’ Mouth & Tongue” painting among others, and at the Wyland Gallery in Planet Hollywood, on June 26th, 2022. These Las Vegas exhibits will be followed by another at the Wyland Gallery in Lake Tahoe, NV from June 30th-July 3rd, where he’ll also be making a personal appearance. These Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe exhibits will now give many more pop art lovers the opportunity to see his work up-close in-person, as opposed to only online, as exhibits in recent years have been mainly in Hawaii.

Ruby Mazur also just announced that, coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of the Mouth & Tongue image, this will be the final year he will create new paintings and prints of his famous image, but he will take on commissions from collectors to do new pieces through December 2022.

Throughout this past year, demand has been high for Mazur’s work among collectors since last spring when he debuted his “Rock-n-Roll Last Supper”, a massive five by twelve foot oil on canvas that was three years in the making, followed by his all new “High-Volume” series of paintings, both of which commanded a great deal of national and local media attention.

In that series, he used a new technique developed to convey the concept of hearing and feeling the music through his paintings; using movement, energy, unique brush strokes and extremely vibrant color to almost bring the painting to life. The striking results are what Mazur called his “High Volume” Pop Art. He immersed himself in this new process, creating “High Volume” Pop Art images of Prince, Steven Tyler, Elton John, Bruno Mars, Tom Petty and so many more..

While spotlighting his new “Rock-n-Roll Last Supper”, also on exhibit at Holle Fine Art gallery in Maui in 2021were Mazur’s all new original paintings of Freddie Mercury, Keith Richards, Willie Nelson, Cher, Paul McCartney, Elton John/Billy Joel (Diptych), David Bowie, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Jerry Garcia, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and the first new painting of the Rolling Stones’ "Mouth & Tongue" since Mazur’s original was done in the early 1970’s.

His original paintings, in which he uses both oil and acrylic, are also available as open edition fine art giclée on canvas prints which are hand-embellished and signed by Mazur, most available in three varied sizes; 18” by 24”, 24” by 30” and 30” by 40”. Prices and dimensions on the original paintings are upon request.

Ruby Mazur, raised in New York City, has been living and working in Maui for the last sixteen years and launched his early career in pop art and graphics at age 21as Art Director of Paramount Records. King and countless others, in addition to movie soundtrack covers including "Love Story", "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", "Malcolm X" and "Lenny Bruce".
