Hua-Hsuan has a strong sense of Western and Chinese music language. She is a cellist who has an academic background in the Chinese Music Department and performs as a cellist in a Chinese orchestra. During her studies, she fell in love with the score from Tan Dun’s, “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”. It was there HUA began gaining a true passion for making her own music.
HUA loves to tell a story through music. "I feel lucky that I’m able to convey my thoughts and feelings through my music.” The whole EP HUA Dreaming is like a story. There are ups and downs in life. Based on her days performing as a cellist in a Chinese orchestra, HUA uses her experiences to contrive unique musical sounds to express these feelings through music. The most exciting part of releasing her EP "HUA Dreaming" is the growth of her fanbase. HUA got invited to score three short films as a leading composer role. First, an award-winning filmmaker, Wenhwa Tsao, invited HUA to produce original pieces for her film "Red Rice." Gaining popularity within the music world, Hua's unique artistic vision caught the eye of an emerging director Ari Groobman. It was Groobman who approached her to harness her fusion of Western and Chinese music for his short film “Essentially Amy." During this time, director Guochen Duan also highly sought HUA to score her film "Find the Bridge".
As an artist, HUA has derived her own distinctive sound that gives her the ability to stand out amongst the rest. "This is why I infuse my Chinese Culture with my American Culture in my music to best express my personal influence in my art."
