Sylvan Esso are announcing their 4th album this Sunday evening at 8pm, but the PR will be going out Monday morning at 9am if you’re up for covering?

Made up of married couple Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, new album No Rules Sandy marks something of a new chapter for them following their first 3 releases - one which they say fans can expect something “wilder and stranger and more cathartic”. It sees them embracing themselves for who they really are, resulting in something that’s dramatically open and honest.

Both describe No Rules Sandy as their most personal project— right in the title, after all, is Sanborn’s own nickname. The most intimate—but still enigmatic— details arrive in interstitial moments between tracks, featuring voicemails from loved ones, birdsong from outside their home in Durham, the voices of children, and other life detritus transformed into eternal art. It was recorded in a makeshift studio they set up in a small rental on the Eastside of Los Angeles.

As well as announcing the album, they also share new single ‘Didn’t Care’ which traces the emotional journey from a humble meeting to life-changing love, and builds on recent singles 'Sunburn' and 'Your Reality’. Like much of No Rules Sandy, the song leaps from the framework of pop music into a wilder unknown, full of the loose, live-wire energy that inspired the album’s unforeseen creation.
