Jo Carley And The Old Dry Skulls announce the release of their fourth album - ‘I’ll Put My Voodoo On You’. It’s eleven tales of terror, love and destiny from their creepy and magical world.
The songs are enriched with stories of Voodoo and Old Horror films but uniquely delivered with an old timey vaudeville blues twist. This trio from England are known for their unique live show that transports guests back to the time of witches and dark magic. It’s music that makes people wanna come down and shake their bones!
The instruments that they play are as surprising as the actual end product. Mandolin, Archtop Guitar, Double Bass, Washboard, Kick Drum and a Rattlin’ Shoe. Rooted firmly in a bygone era when Voodoo and Black Magic were rife, they’ve got all the vibe, sounds and character of old Blues, Old-timey Country, Skiffle, Calypso and Rock n Roll.
And so with this album another chapter is here, the journey goes back to the underworld of the 30s. Having escaped the witchdoctor she is now the ruler of all life on the island. You would think that being a powerful Voodoo Queen, life would be fine and dandy right? Well, sometimes yes, sometimes no. Amongst the chaos and the fun, there always seems to be something dark and evil lurking in the shadows…
If she offers you a little dose of her medicine, be careful what you wish for as a summoned devil can take on many an innocent shape. She sees your future, she sees your past, she tells you if you come to harm. But watch out! It’s not all unavoidable ill misfortune, sometimes you just gotta roll with it and let your hair down.
She leaves a lasting message for the great undead, you ain’t gonna change the land unless you come out from under the sand…
"... This band is not your ordinary run-of-the-mill blues outfit. It's off-the-wall blues, honkytonk, and boogie with a pinch of country all mixed up like gumbo... I suggest you sit down with a drink and let Jo Carley and The Old Dry Skulls take you somewhere you would never dream of going..." Stephen Harrison / Blues Matters Magazine
‘I’ll puy my voodoo on you’ is due for release 14th November. Let Jo Carley put her voodoo on you and pre-order your copy here.
