Ten Eighty Trees are an alt rock band formed in the now more recently renowned and musically replenished area of Newcastle. The ferocious three piece make cathartic rock anthems that speak to the masses, combining their love for rock ‘n’ roll to make something quite powerful and also meaningful. Their live shows are where they are best showcased, having played at Tramlines Fringe, Stockton Calling and more, sharing the stages with the likes of Jake Bugg, Bob Vylan and many more.
With their impressive string of singles spanning back to 2018, the infectious trio have always honed in their songwriting as being their main focus, and the BBC Radio 6 band are back once more with heavy-hitting single ‘Incubator’. An anthem made for the social conscious, a barricade of screeching guitars fill a wall of sound that stretches beyond the band’s usual alternative spectrum. Some math-rock infused as well in their lyricism and rhythmic melodies, with a vocal that demands your attention from the off.
They waste no time getting to the chorus, where it hits you heavily and with real vigour and a sense of momentum that cannot be understated. With the versatility being on show in the seamless transition between the lighter verse and heavy rock chorus’, there is already so much to love about ‘Incubator’. The song portrays a protagonist unprepared and overwhelmed by the outside world, yearning for the metaphorical safespace of ‘The Incubator’ to feel a sense of peace.
Clever and articulate, Ten Eighty Trees embark on a UK tour this Autumn to align with the release of their debut EP, and it’s sure to be a stomper with ‘The Incubator’ setting the tone for a band with high hopes.
