Bryn Wright is a 17 year old atmospheric pop singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, born in South Shropshire and grew up in a rural village surrounded by fields and outstanding Natural Beauty.
His music has already been described as cinematic pop orchestrations that sound like film scores and his debut single Lost, released in August has laid down some great foundation featuring on Record Of The Day and the likes of Buzz Music. ‘Voyager’, the title track from Bryn’s debut EP, explores a surreal story line of him and a partner traveling and exploring the universe together, collecting and exchanging gifts such as the Moon, Sun and the planets. Its inspiration came from the clear winter night skies that were visible from Bryn’s studio window during the writing process. The music combines his orchestral background with his alternative production style and flows between a delicately crafted ballad verse and powerful chorus with hints of pop production, lyrically and musically inspired by the likes of AURORA and Pomme.
Bryn is a stand alone artist and one who already has a story and is trying to make his way with music he fully believes in. Saying this, he has an array of influences from a wide range of genres, drawing inspiration from artists like Jacob Collier, Pomme, Goldfrapp, Elton John, Bill Wurtz and Pink Floyd. His style of production is influenced greatly by that of AURORA and the Norwegian producer and musician MANGUS. Whereas his song writing structure and use of chordal theory and voice leading is drawn from Jacob Collier, Elton John, and Pink Floyd’s use of tension and release.
Bryn is an impressive 17 year old talent who writes, produces and plays on all his own music. His debut EP drops around November so make sure you follow his progress.
