Fast-rising Florida-based singer-songwriter Xavier Alston released his debut single “Memories” last fall, through MackLife Records, a label owned by multi-platinum recording artist Mark Morrison. The single received over one million plays on TikTok, and over 100,000 streams on streaming platform Spotify, within 8 weeks of its release.
Alston released a Dance remix, by House music legend Robbie Rivera on December 30. Rivera, a legendary DJ and producer is widely known for the hit single which garnered him world fame, titled “Bang”, which was released in 2000 and used worldwide during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
A new remixed version of “Memories” has now been released on January 20, by Stockholm-based DJ and producer Oliver Nelson. The remix has racked up an impressive 25,000 streams on Spotify, in just 10 days. Known for a stellar house and disco sound, Oliver Nelson’s remix of “Greek Tragedy” a 2015 track by Indie band The Wombats', became a hit in 2021 when it went viral on TikTok. Nelson’s catalogue has amassed over 250 million streams on Spotify alone, and he’s remixed for the likes of Joel Corry, Niall Horan, Ella Henderson, Kesha, and Donna Summer.
Mack Life Records is a record label, initially founded in the late 90s by musician Mark Morrison known for hit singles such as “Crazy”, “Moan & Groan” and “Return of the Mack" which reached the UK No. 1 in 1996 and peaked at No. 2 in the US the following year. In, 2020, Mack Life announced its return as an independent label, focused on developing new talent.
