A languid disco-pop track that flirts with heady ‘80s sounds, hazy late-night rhythms and electro-heavy, synth-laden beats, “Sentiments nouveaux” is an intoxicating new cut from the three-piece, padded out with twangy, contorted riffs and balmy vocals.
Hitting just where it should — amidst our deepest desires, intrinsic drives and the naivety of our first times — “Sentiments nouveaux” is a potent exploration of the senses as the band dive deep looking for “a sensation or an exaltation” that pushes them right to the edge.
The track arrives as the band’s first new offering since awaited second album ‘Concorde’ in 2020, a record that took a brand new approach and saw Le Couleur explore vintage influences reminiscent of the faded charm of ‘70s erotica, while dipping into the distinctly rich tones of psychedelia, disco, yéyé and French chanson.
Having forged a distinct electro-pop sound that shines as brightly as the glimmering lights of the now defunct Studio 54, Le Couleur are Laurence Giroux-Do (vocals), Patrick Gosselin (bass) and Steeven Chouinard (drums). The trio first emerged onto the scene with their early EPs ‘Voyage Love’ (2013) and ‘Dolce Désir’ (2015), followed by their critically acclaimed debut album ‘P.O.P.’ in 2016.
Delivering rich and irresistibly danceable performances, Le Couleur’s striking live shows are decadent and dynamic parties in themselves — full of exhilarating energy that keeps audiences engrossed well after the music has finished.
Last year Le Couleur played a string of rave-reviewed shows in the UK and Paris, and in 2023 the band are set to play three shows at the prestigious SXSW.
