Critically acclaimed K-Pop superstars TWICE return today with the release of their 12th mini album, READY TO BE, via JYP Entertainment/Imperial/Republic Records, on all digital and streaming platforms. The seven-track album includes title track “SET ME FREE” (both Korean and English versions), GOT THE THRILLS,” “BLAME IT ON ME,” “WALLFLOWER,” and “CRAZY STUPID LOVE,” as well as the pre-released single “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE.” The anticipation for the mini album was high, with the mini album’s preorders hit over 1.7 million, making it the most pre-ordered album to date for the group.
TWICE is pulling out all the stops for this release. This morning, the group participated in a ceremonial lighting of the Empire State Building this morning in partnership with Musicians On Call to not only celebrate READY TO BE’s release, but also raise awareness for Musicians On Call’s mission to deliver live music in hospitals. Additionally, the group performed the latest title track on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and will perform “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE” on The Kelly Clarkson Show this Tuesday, March 14th. In addition to the performance, the group also sat down with Kelly for an interview, marking the group’s first U.S. talk show interview.
TWICE kicked off 2023 strong with the pre-release of “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE” in January, which debuted at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the group career high-placements on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart (#3) and both Spotify’s US Chart (#39) and Global Chart (#60). Earlier this month, the group was honored at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards, where they received the Breakthrough Award, as well as closed the ceremony with their first-ever performance of “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE.” While in Los Angeles, the group also hosted a massively successful pop-up experience in support of READY TO BE’s release.
Next month, the group will embark on their READY TO BE world tour. The 14-city tour will kick off on April 15th with shows in South Korea, Australia, and Japan; they will then head to North America to play nine shows – with more shows forthcoming – beginning with a performance at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on June 10th. This will make TWICE the first female K-Pop girl group to play both SoFi Stadium and MetLife Stadium (July 6th).
In 2022, TWICE was the most-streamed female K-Pop group on Spotify (US), and they are also the longest-charting female K-Pop act on Spotify’s US Daily Top Artist chart. Last year alone, they accumulated nearly 300 million steams (with cumulative streams of over 5.5 billion, to date). They also completed their 4TH WORLD TOUR Ⅲ where they played sold-out arenas across the US, as well as two encores performances at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium. These shows made TWICE the first female K-Pop group to sell out two North American arena tours, and the first female K-Pop group to play a North American stadium, respectively.
READY TO BE is out now via all digital and streaming platforms.
