Since the release of their debut album "Sadnecessary" in 2013, Milky Chance has gained international recognition and amassed a loyal fan base, thanks to their unique sound and independent approach to music production and distribution. They have been able to retain creative control over their music and live shows, while discovering new ways to interact with their fans on more personal levels. Despite having to solve riddles and jump hurdles on the fly, Milky Chance has proven time and time again that success can be achieved without relying on a major label's resources and marketing power.

The latest flex of their freedom comes in the form of three live albums, all just released on Nugs.net on May 13th. The fact that the band quietly dropped hi-res live recordings of three different shows - a November 16th, 2022 show at Columbiahalle in Berlin, Germany, a December 14th, 2021 show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, and a February 5th, 2020 performance at Academy Brixton in London - clearly displays their ability and desire to do things differently.

For their live show series, the band highlighted one show/one iconic venue from each of the last three years. Originally built as a sports hall by the US Air Force in 1951, Columbiahalle eventually became one of Berlin’s main outlets for the best bands in music. The Wiltern was built in 1931 and for almost 100 years has showcased the most popular bands in music, ranging from The Rolling Stones to Ice Cube. The same goes for Academy Brixton, one of the most legendary venues in London, which started out as a cinema in 1929, transformed into a discotheque in 1972, and finally was reborn as a concert hall in 1983.

The sold-out performances at these iconic venues and cities across the world demonstrate Milky Chance’s global reach and appeal. They also represent exactly what Milky Chance set out to accomplish as an independent band - make incredible music that they control while selling out venues that 99% of indie bands can only dream of. They then take that one step further, releasing live performances of these shows without any restrictions or limitations. The whole process is an expression of boundless freedom that is now a trademark of Milky Chance’s ever-growing brand.
