British rapper Holmes releases latest single SE Boy featuring South London's Koder.
Holmes, the renowned British rapper known for his distinctive flow, lyrical prowess, and impressive production skills, has unveiled his latest single in collaboration with artist and Mogul, Koder. ‘SE Boy', which premiered on BBC Radio 1 Xtra DJ Sian Anderson’s show, takes listeners on a captivating journey through Holmes' personal transformation from a humble upbringing to a more prosperous life, fuelled by his unwavering ambition for success.
In 'SE Boy', Holmes showcases his determination to change his circumstances. Opening with the words, "came a long way from out of... change, had to make that change," Holmes draws on his own experiences, continuously contrasting his past and present. From reminiscing about catching buses and sharing donuts on the bus home, to riding in a Porsche, sipping Dom Pérignon, flying business and wearing designer, Holmes fearlessly embraces a materialistic perspective.
Towards the conclusion of his verse, Holmes confidently asserts that he has attained his current status and has no intention of relinquishing it. While still connected to his roots, he remains focused on legitimate business pursuits, serving as an example of success for those facing adversity.
Koder, the acclaimed artist from South London's Brockley neighbourhood, lends his undeniable wordplay and wit to complement the track's concept. From running for buses to getting paid for tours, receiving radio airplay, and independently managing his own record label, Undeniable Records, Koder's journey serves as an inspiring testament to overcoming challenges and pursuing dreams.
