Chart-topping, genre-defying, singer/songwriter Ren celebrates the one year anniversary of his viral sensation, ‘Hi Ren’.
Premiering on the 15th December 2022, Ren was completely unaware of the global impact this masterpiece would have on millions of fans and listeners and what unbelievable journey it would take him on. With over 22 Million YouTube views, the self-written, produced and directed release took off on its own, travelled the world and now sees fans continue to champion Ren.
Lyrically, the song is about self doubt and inner criticism, a dialogue between the artist and his inner voice, a febrile argument which reaches a beautiful conclusion. The reason millions of fans have connected directly to the music video is because Ren has opened up a space for individuals to become part of a community, hearing and resonating with others on human experiences and feelings that are often left undiscussed. With ‘Hi Ren’, the Welsh artist reassured fans that they are not alone and the result proved his point entirely. ‘Hi Ren’ is a hymn for the misunderstood.
Since the release, Ren has shared more inspiring music, opening up further about his struggles, health and ambitions. In October 2023, Ren scored his first UK Number 1 album, after a head to head with Rick Astley. Ren is the first Welsh solo artist to achieve an #1 since 2012 and joins the likes of Tom Jones, Bonnie Tyler, Stereophonics and Duffy.
