Jianan (Canaan) Wang is a seasoned music composer and producer with over three years of experience under his belt. His creativity and sound designing skills have significantly impacted film directors and game designers, demonstrating his range of expertise. He is an award-winning individual who has raised awareness about social issues through captivating projects.

Since he was four years old, Jiana has been enveloped by the artistry of music, starting with the erhu. He acquired a taste for dance and became the Lead Dancer of the Jinfan Dance Troupe in Beijing under Meng, the Taiki director of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. From 2010 to 2014, Jianan performed at the National Center for the Performing Arts for Mr. Zemin Jiang, the former president of China. He directed the troupe in prestigious international dance competitions, working with diverse groups from South Korea, Singapore, and the University of Edinburgh.

Ten years ago marked the transition between dancing and delving into various music genres like jazz, blues, and symphonies. Jianan enhanced his ability to observe people and empathize with culturally diverse individuals. At 15 years old, he formed an indie band that still performs.

Jianan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Narrative Filmmaking with a minor in Theater from Indiana University Bloomington. He then earned his Master of Music Theory and Composition from Columbia College Chicago, which is ranked as Hollywood Reporter’s top school. His narrative filmmaking studies enriched his understanding of the profound relationship between imagery and music, magnifying his ability to create vivid film scores. His academic pursuits soon led him to Hollywood, where he put his musical composition talents into practice.

One of Jianan’s most significant achievements was producing the music for the “Unquestioning Acquiescence” project with the designer Gao. The project highlighted critical topics like women’s safety, men’s awareness, sexual violence, and sexual assault. Gao wanted to share the story and meaning in an artistic way that could capture an audience's attention.

Another crucial project was Jianan’s recording of his thesis piece at the 20th Century Fox Newman Stage. He expanded his musical horizons and learned about live symphonic recording and post-production mixing after meeting accomplished musicians and producers from Hollywood.

Jianan aided in the production of the project “3D Printing the Future” by Laura Waters-Hinson. His role in the project was collaborating with Grammy winner music producer Matt GK Wong to create a captivating musical piece that amassed critical acclaim. The piece won six different festival awards, including the Activist Award at the Special Jury Awareness Festival 2021 and the Official Selection Award at the Annapolis Film Festival 2023.

Jianan’s pivotal goal in the music industry is to launch a detail-oriented music assistant to provide administrative and creative support to musicians and producers. He has spearheaded the development of a progressive music scoring software that uses AI. Many of his efforts went toward comprehending machine learning algorithms and advanced music theory concepts to enhance the software’s capabilities.
