Galaxy Shores is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Herren, a project that melds the ethereal sounds of psychedelic rock with the infectious hooks of pop. Born out of the creative crucible of pandemic lockdowns, Galaxy Shores emerged as a musical lifeline for Herren, a space where he could channel the uncertainties and introspections of the era into something tangible and transformative.

With nothing but time on his hands during the lockdowns, Herren threw himself into the world of music production—a realm he had never fully explored before. Armed with YouTube tutorials and a burning passion, he spent countless hours mastering the intricacies of Ableton and honing his skills on various instruments. The result of this period of intense self-education was the self-titled debut EP, Galaxy Shores, released in January 2022. The EP was a promising introduction to the lush, atmospheric soundscapes that would come to define the project.

After the release of, Galaxy Shores, Herren knew he was on the cusp of something greater. He dedicated himself to refining his sound, taking drum and production lessons to expand his musical vocabulary. Determined to move beyond the influences that initially shaped him, Herren sought to craft a sonic identity that was uniquely his own. This period of artistic growth culminated in Galaxy Shores' first full-length LP, Plastique River.

Released to critical acclaim, Plastique River, is a swirling, immersive journey through the mind of a dreamer wrestling with the weight of massive ambitions. Laden with phased-out guitars, analogue synths, vintage drums, and Herren's signature psychedelic production, the album captures the feeling of being lost in a haze of aspiration and reality. Each track is a sonic journal entry, chronicling Herren's experiences as he navigates the highs and lows of pursuing his dreams, from the thrill of new beginnings to the bittersweet realisation that not everything is as it seems.

Plastique River, is not just an album; it's a cinematic experience. Herren views each song as a scene in a larger narrative, moving the story forward and pulling the listener deeper into the world he's created. The album's themes are deeply personal, reflecting Herren's journey from isolation to self-discovery. It explores the nuances of growing up, the excitement and disillusionment of chasing childhood dreams, the complexities of love, and the challenges of truly standing on one's own for the first time since college.

For Herren, psychedelic music is more than just a genre—it's a lens through which he views the world. His love for the genre is evident in every track of, Plastique River, which blends vintage and modern elements to create something timeless yet fresh. The album is a testament to the transformative power of music, both for the listener and the creator.

Galaxy Shores is poised to continue its upward trajectory, with Josh Herren at the helm, constantly pushing the boundaries of his craft. As he looks to the future, Herren remains committed to exploring new sounds and ideas, always intending to create music that resonates on a deeply emotional and cinematic level. With, Plastique River, Galaxy Shores has firmly established itself as a unique voice in the psychedelic rock/pop landscape, and the journey is only just beginning.
