Vikram Bam is a Singer/Songwriter and Producer based out of Mumbai. A musician from the age of 8, he started with classical piano, Indian classical vocals and taught himself the guitar, which he then used to audition for and attend Berklee College of music, focusing on Songwriting and Production.
He grew up in a musical environment as the third in a 3 generation music company started by his grandfather in 1986 and then taken on by his mother.
It was always his aim to be a singer/songwriter and composer and he has worked tirelessly towards that goal.
Life In MusicVikram is a multi instrumentalist although he primarily focuses on vocals and guitar. He produces his own music with a blend of all the styles and genres he grew up on. Having grown up around some fantastic musicians and producers, Vikram’s style is influenced by the artists who he was surrounded by and uses his Bollywood and Indian classical influences and merges them with his more western classical and rock influences to hopefully create something that people haven’t considered yet.
At the age of 17 he went to Berklee where he studied production, songwriting and arrangement. All the while he was working on productions for his label back home and expanding his knowledge base to bring a new sound to the music of the artists that he grew up around.
At 22 he returned to Mumbai and worked as a session guitarist, arranger, live performer and for the label his family runs, Sagarika Music. During the process he released some singles and some instrumentals as he found his sound.
He also scored the documentary series ‘Kashmir Unreported’ and arranged songs for Bollywood movies called ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Vaccine War’.
He is now focused on building his career as a solo artist. His latest project, Make A Fool combines his pop influences and tries to present it with a cinematic feel.
Musical Style:At his heart, Vikram is a writer. So most of the projects that he does are something he believes have to convey some form of a message from the experiences and learnings he’s collected over the course of however much of his life he has currently lived. To do this, he likes to combine styles, genres and ideas from a variety of different cultural and musical influences.
Songs like Bluebird, Guide and Door Chala show his more Singer/Songwriter influences while songs like Baatein and Make A Fool show off his more eclectic approach to arrangement.
There is always an element of experimentation or fun with whatever he does, be it in the writing or the production.
Vikram aims to break the notion that an artist can be confined to one genre.
