“Bones” is the outstanding lead single of Catlea’s new EP under the same name. It encompasses the post-breakup feeling one can expect to feel after a relationship ends. However, the melodic, almost joyful, sound brings a new light to this feeling and shows you can find light in any situation, as long as you look for it hard enough.

With the overwhelming success of their previous singles—“Like Me,” “Lying,” and “Crumbling,” which have collectively garnered over two million streams—Catlea is firmly on an upward trajectory. Their fourth single, “Bones,” is set to be released at the end of October as the lead track from the upcoming Bones EP, featuring the three earlier songs. This release paves the way for their debut full-length album, Language Barrier, arriving on January 17, 2025.

The Cincinnati-based artist has received outstanding critical acclaim, with praise from various outlets including It’s All Indie, which called their sound “incredibly anthemic,” and Clout, which described it as “engrossing and immersive.” TotalNtertainment lauded Catlea for their “raw and powerful vocals,” helping them amass nearly four million Spotify streams—a testament to their growing influence in the music scene.

In “Bones,” Catlea showcases their ability to transcend stylistic limitations by blending genres seamlessly. The track features a vibrant mix of indie-pop, soul, R&B, and a touch of disco, all wrapped in an irresistible groove. This rich soundscape aligns with Good Music Radar’s description of Catlea as an “expert sonic collager.”

The lyrics of “Bones” tackle the complex and often contradictory emotions tied to breakups, delving into feelings of confusion and isolation. Catlea’s candid lyricism captures the duality of being stuck in heartache while growing weary of discussing it, making the song a relatable anthem for anyone navigating similar experiences.

Catlea transforms the heavy weight of processing a breakup into a more approachable experience through their authentic songwriting. With their honeyed vocals, “Bones” emerges as both a confessional piece and a therapeutic release, providing listeners with a comforting embrace in moments of loneliness. Their music delivers a reassuring message that it’s perfectly okay to feel lost and uncertain. As Catlea articulates in the song: “I may be lost right now, but I’m learning—and ready to move on.”

Interestingly, “Bones” almost didn’t make it onto Language Barrier. It was during a session in Barcelona’s Room To Studio that producer Jason Boshoff and guitarist Oscar Garcia-Bragado stumbled upon a demo version. After urging Catlea to refine it, the song was completed in just one night, and it quickly became one of the strongest tracks on the album.

With “Bones” adding to their already impressive discography, Catlea’s potential is set to ignite further momentum as they continue to captivate audiences with their unique sound and heartfelt storytelling. Keep an eye on this rising star—big things are on the horizon!
