Dom Martin, the multi-award-winning artist and UK Blues Hall of Famer, has released his latest single, Unhinged (Live), accompanied by a music video. The track is the second taste of his highly anticipated double live album.
The double album showcases both electric and acoustic recordings captured at various venues across Europe and the UK, offering fans a collection of songs spanning all three of Dom's original studio albums.
Speaking about the single, Dom said:
“This was the last recording we did for the Buried Alive album, Live at Face Bar in Reading this summer. It was a new venue to us and it’s always a nice experience to play new places. Everything about the song is unhinged from the beginning to the end. You don’t really know what’s going on and hey that makes 2 of us!
The lead runs take on and off the cuff charge as I don’t actually know what I’m playing and none of it is scripted or set in stone. I’m really glad we could capture this song in its natural state. Bare chested and raw for all to enjoy and any judgement of it, well, I welcome it and I’m proud of it.”
The Unhinged (Live) video brings a fresh twist, blending new visuals with elements from the original studio version. Dom added:
"The vogue dancing from the original Unhinged video felt like the perfect match, so we’ve brought it back with some exciting new clips. Enjoy!"
Currently wrapping up his Buried Alive tour, High praise from press include All About The Rock’s review of the Edinburgh show.
“Dom Martin is in a league of his own… Everyone left that venue in high spirits after witnessing one of the best blues gigs that La Belle has hosted to date.”
Meanwhile, ERB Magazine praised: "The whole set showed why Dom Martin has deservedly won so many awards. Great talent, great songs, great musician."
The tour concludes at the Looe Blues Rhythm & Rock Festival on December 6th.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given by another musician. One of your peers? I’ve had a lot of advice but one that stands out was a conversation over alcohol with Martin Harley. He talked about changing the narrative. You can change the narrative of anything. It’s all a power of the mind kinda thing. Beautiful stuff. Thanks Martin.
What’s your process for dealing with performance anxiety? There is no one answer to this question but I try to do some breathing work and focus on what I have to do before hitting the stage. Silence helps me a lot but some days you just wake with a crunching anxiety and it’s with you all day no matter what you do so I just try to make the most of the feelings and emotions and enjoy the experience. Try to remember that if you play a wrong note or your vocals ain’t very good today, that nobody is going to kill you over it. You can lick your wounds and keep going no matter what. Change the narrative.
Are you enjoying the songs you play every night or are they getting heavy to carry? Some songs I love and don’t mind the repetition. Others I’m like”why God? Why do I have to play this again?” It’s a love/hate thing that has made me question everything I release musically. I’ve written a lot of songs but do I want to play the majority of them every night? No, no I don’t, so they don’t see the light of day. Selfish of me I know but you have to keep a little bit of sanity. MusicallyI try to keep it a little more busy and upbeat now.
If you could play any venue in the world, where would it be and why. Oh good question! A venue I’ve always wanted to play is the Royal Albert Hall or Carnegie Hall but these are obviously the big ones. My number 1 would have to be Sydney Grand Opera House or even Belfast’s Ulster Hall.. hallowed ground for any Rory Gallagher fan.
What inspires you more than anything else? The fact that I’m still alive inspires me. The fight to keep going I see in others inspires me. Honesty and integrity in people is inspiring to me but mostly people who are just who they are with no need to impress or judge inspires me the most. Being honest, merciless, romantic, passionate and fearless over the things and people you love are the biggest inspirations of all.
Do you look after your own guitars on tour or do you have a tech? Yes I do tirelessly look after almost my own guitars and equipment. I could use a tech but I need it done right and I don’t have that time right now (or the money...)to build that trust up enough to hand over my pride and joys. I like doing it though. It’s very therapeutic even if it does come with a few electric shocks every once in a while. I can still smell my burning hair….
Your guitars all have a story. Can you tell me about some of their origins? Yeah they all really do. My “Greeny". A Vintage Les Paul that I’ve heavily modified. It used to be a lemon drop copy of Peter Green's 59. It was always a great player but it looked awful so I’ve changed pretty much everything on it including the colour. It’s a great companion. I have a Gulf Caster from Florida. A T-style electric that’s inspired by Rory Gallagher. The owner of the company, Izzy, got in touch with me and said he would make me a guitar on the house so I jumped at the chance to make something special and told him to Imagine if Rory’s strat was a tele from the start, that’s what I want. He built it and it arrived at my door in Belfast on Rory’s birthday. It was like a little hi from the man himself. I’m very lucky to have what I have now. I feel so much gratitude.
You’re castaway on some beautiful island in the middle of the Pacific. You can have 3 albums and 2 guitars. What are your choices? Ah, easy. 3 albums.
Rory Gallagher Live in Europe for Messing With The Kid alone!
2. Roy Buchanan Live Austin City Limits.
3. Biggie Smalls Ready to Die. Don’t judge me. It’s a guilty pleasure from my childhood.
Guitars. A mini Washburn acoustic that I bring with me pretty much everywhere and get people I like to sign it. My Greeny Les Paul. 2 guitars I couldn’t do without.
