Giovannie and The Hired Guns release new single 'The Great Escape' from forthcoming new album 'Quitter'
13 February 2025
Latin Music, country, rock’n’roll and pop-punk fans all come together at a Giovannie and The Hired Guns show. One of the most crowd-thrilling bands to burst onto the American scene in recent years, they have pushed the boundaries of rock-and-roll and country to forge an irresistibly gritty sound all their own. After building a massive grassroots following on the strength of their explosive live show, the Stephenville, Texas-based group continue to go from strength to strength, now returning with their fourth full length album, “Quitter.”
Their new single “The Great Escape” takes a slower paced approach to a daydream on the road, going from city to city; musing about whether the grass is greener on or off the tour bus. "Great Escape is a story about trust and loyalty. It's about believing in someone and their dreams" states frontman Giovannie Yanez.
With a ton of U.S. tour dates ahead of them in 2025, this band is making it happen and following their dreams across the U.S.A. building on the success of 2022’s Tejano Punk Boyz—which reached #1 on both Alternative and Active Rock radio in the U.S.A. with the hit single "Ramon Ayala" and earned them the iHeartRadio Award for Best New Rock/Alternative Band. Giovannie and The Hired Guns’ latest LP sees the band fully embracing the free-spirited energy that defined their early days.
As their following continues to grow far beyond the borders of their home state, and beyond the United States, Giovannie and The Hired Guns have found their sense of purpose ineffably deepened with each new album they create. “To me making music is a godsend,” says Yanez. “I generally don’t tell people what’s on my mind or how I’m feeling; I hold it in and then get it all out by picking up a pen and paper or strumming my guitar. So the fact that our songs might end up helping other people in some way just makes it all even sweeter.” He continues about their live shows, “The goal for the live show is always to take people away for that hour and a half,” says Yanez. “Whatever problems they’re dealing with, whatever they’re going through or whatever’s happening in today’s world, we want them to forget all about it for those 90 minutes. If they want to get sad and cry, then I’ll cry with them. If they want to let loose and have fun, I’ll do that too. We just want to feel connected to everyone, because we truly are—we’re exactly the same as every single person out there in the crowd.”
Recorded at the famed Sonic Ranch (a residential studio near the Mexican border in Tornillo, Texas) and produced by Johnny K (Megadeth, Sevendust, Plain White T’s), “Quitter” marks the fourth full-length from Giovannie and The Hired Guns (frontman Giovannie Yanez, guitarists Carlos Villa and Jerrod Flusche, bassist/tuba player Alex Trejo, and drummer/pianist Milton Toles.)
“From the beginning I told the guys not to worry about sounding too rock or too country on this record,” Yanez recalls. “We just went in there and had fun and didn’t let anything hold us back, and because of that the album shows the full range of what we can do as a band.”
Since their inception in 2015, Giovannie and The Hired Guns have made a blockbuster career out of wildly defying expectations. With a visceral sound that merges alt-metal, Red Dirt country, Latin pop, Americana, and much more, the Stephenville, Texas-based five-piece have ascended from playing local honky-tonks to taking the stage at major festivals and arenas across the U.S.A. drawing an ardent crowd ranging from cowboys to metalheads to skate punks.
