With a classic indie-rock riff and boundless energy from the start, The Slates latest release is sure to set them alight for what is set to be a big year.
Hailing from the heart of West Yorksire, Leeds - The Slates are back after an impressive year of gigging nationwide. Their brand new song, titled FIESTA, is a raw and energetic song which encapsulates the band’s approach to music. They are set to release the single on the 7th March 2025 - just a week before their latest sold out headline gig.
The song was conceived after a past falling-out with an acquaintance and also explores the monotony of daily-routine life whilst also embracing the unpredictability of day-to-day occurrences. The song itself is a raucous, thumping anthem which sets the tone of the song in the opening seconds - which wil be sure to draw in listeners instantly.
2024 saw great progress for the band as they toured up and down the country in February and sold out a few of the shows along the way. They also managed to pack out a tent at Truck Festival which is still reminisced by many people who were fortunate enough to see the spectacle. As well as that, they played This Feeling By The Sea and played supports up and down the country from London to Glasgow.
The band said, “Having not released a song in over 12 months, we’re itching with anticipation to get our new songs out there and show people what we’re really about!”
Four mates from Yorkshire, The Slates are a young, energetic indie band who are passionate about writing anthems and moving a crowd. The Slates formed in summer 2019 with front man Louis Barnes, guitarist Joe Briggs, bassist Jude Wales and drummer Zak Oldroyd. The band have succeeded to have plays on the BBC, series’ on Channel 4, played at YNOT Festival 2022, Isle Of Wight Festival 2023, Truck Fest 2024, Manchester Academy 1 and have played multiple times at the O2 Academy Leeds as well as amassing over 300,000 stream on Spotify alone.
