Multi-award-winning artist Jack Garratt is making a triumphant return with the announcement of his highly anticipated third album, Pillars, set for release on August 15th via Cooking Vinyl. Marking his first full-length project in five years, Pillars is a vibrant and emotionally charged exploration of love, community, and self-discovery.

Leading the album’s rollout is its explosive first single, ‘Catherine Wheel,’ out today. More than just a comeback track, ‘Catherine Wheel’ is a bold declaration of intent, setting the tone for Pillars with its signature blend of introspective lyricism and euphoric self-production. Written during a transformative trip to Los Angeles, the song emerged from a period of self-doubt and creative renewal.

“I was fully ready to quit music,” Garratt admits. “But ‘Catherine Wheel’ became my true north - it reignited my love for creating and set the tone for the entire album.”

Following the release of Love, Death & Dancing in 2020—a record that landed amidst the isolating grip of the pandemic—Garratt found himself yearning for reconnection. Pillars serves as his answer, diving deep into love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, and self-love—through a tapestry of lush melodies, infectious beats, and heartfelt storytelling.

From the meditative synth-soul of ‘Shaftesbury Avenue’ to the funk-driven energy of ‘Ready! Steady! Go!’, Pillars highlights Garratt’s remarkable range as a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. The breakbeat urgency of ‘Higher’ and the radio-ready exuberance of ‘Two Left Feet’ further showcase his ability to balance emotional depth with dancefloor-ready production.

Fully self-produced and self-mixed, Pillars was recorded in Garratt’s North London studio and includes a single collaboration with renowned producer Johan Hugo (Self Esteem, Mumford & Sons). His meticulous approach to production—whether re-recording a single lyric or layering live instrumentation—emphasizes his unwavering commitment to his craft.

Since winning the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award and topping the BBC Sound of 2016 poll, Jack Garratt has continued to push musical boundaries with his deeply personal and genre-defying sound. To celebrate his return, he will perform a special underplay headline show at London’s Village Underground on May 1st, with pre-sale access available through album pre-orders.

With Pillars, Garratt reaffirms his place as one of the UK’s most innovative musicians, offering an invitation to all listeners. “I want this album to be an invitation—a celebration where everyone is welcome,” he says. “No guest list, no barriers. Just come in, the water’s fine.”
