The Zutons are sharing new single 'Popcorn', the first new music to come from the band since the release of their acclaimed UK Top 10 album The Big Decider. It arrives as the band were honoured with a Northern Music Award for Best Band last night at Liverpool's Olympia theatre.

In the year since the release of The Big Decider the band have taken their live show up and down the country, played to a packed Other Stage at Glastonbury, and opened for Paul Heaton on his sold out arena tour. Next week they begin another run of UK shows, wrapping up at Liverpool's own University Mountford Hall.

Lead singer and guitarist Dave McCabe had the following to say about their contemplative new single.

"The song just fell out really. I wrote it in about 15 minutes! I didn’t really know what I was writing about or was even thinking about, but then when I played it to the band it made me realise that it’s just me asking my wife to take me the pictures. I used to go a lot and I could relax in there, i think it’s something about the darkness and the way you don’t know what time of day it is, you’re just on 'cinema time' and you can forget all your woes and escape."
