The Brian Jonestown Massacre is set to release their latest offering, Makes Me Great / Out Of Body, on transparent red 10” vinyl via Anton Newcombe’s independent label, A Recordings. The release arrives on April 25, following a triumphant UK and European tour earlier this year. Fans can also look forward to the band’s return to the UK this summer, including a highly anticipated performance at Glastonbury Festival, with more dates yet to be announced.

It has been over 30 years since Anton Newcombe—frontman, songwriter, composer, producer, and all-around musical force—led The Brian Jonestown Massacre to release their first single, She Made Me / Evergreen, in 1992. At a time when major labels were scouting the next big American guitar band, Newcombe charted his own course, rejecting industry norms in favor of creative autonomy. “I just knew I would be more successful in a certain way by saying no,” he reflects. “If people liked me, they were gonna like me anyway. Or dislike me. It doesn’t matter.”

This fiercely independent spirit was famously chronicled in Dig!, the acclaimed rock documentary that turns 20 this year. A newly remastered and expanded edition, Dig! XX, will celebrate its anniversary, offering a fresh look at the band’s tumultuous and trailblazing journey.

Since their shoegaze-infused debut album, Methodrone (1995), The Brian Jonestown Massacre has remained a dynamic and unpredictable force. With over 20 albums to their name, the band has explored a kaleidoscopic range of sounds—from psychedelic rock to country blues to noise-pop—while consistently defying mainstream conventions.

Now based in Berlin, Newcombe continues his relentless creative output. The band's 2023 album, The Future Is Your Past, emerged from a 70-day recording spree that reignited his songwriting spark. That same drive led to the hypnotic shoegaze single Don’t Look At Me, featuring Aimee Nash, released in late 2024.

As Newcombe puts it, his journey is far from over: “Nobody can stop me. It’s just for me.” And with new music and a summer tour ahead, fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
