Fresh off a powerful performance at LA’s Kia Forum and the release of their latest single “Nod”—hailed by VICE as “the anthem we need right now”—Rise Against have unveiled their second new track of 2025. Out now via Loma Vista Recordings, “Prizefighter” dives into the struggle of balancing artistic integrity with audience expectations in an age of relentless digital attention.
Frontman Tim McIlrath explains, “‘Prizefighter’ is about the compulsion to create, the connection that forms with an audience, and the responsibilities that come with it. It wrestles with the transition from being an observer to stepping into the public eye and the fine line between what you owe your fans versus what you owe yourself.”
The song’s video, now available for viewing, visually captures the essence of this internal conflict while also showcasing the electrifying energy of Rise Against’s live performances and the unwavering loyalty of their fans.
Following the success of “Nod,” the band’s first new release in three years, “Prizefighter” continues their mission to inspire unity and action. Arriving shortly after the latest U.S. presidential inauguration, “Nod” became an anthem of resistance and solidarity, encouraging fans to actively engage in the world around them. With extensive touring across three continents, the song has already become a staple of their live set.
Produced by Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Foals, Manchester Orchestra, St. Vincent) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age, The Killers), “Prizefighter” marks a bold new chapter for Rise Against. The track delivers the band’s signature intensity, blending charged lyrics with unshakable melodies that have earned them multi-Gold and Platinum certifications, billions of streams, and a devoted global fanbase.
Currently in the thick of their Rise of The Roach Tour, band members Tim McIlrath (vocals/guitar), Joe Principe (bass/vocals), Zach Blair (guitar/vocals), and Brandon Barnes (drums) are set to perform at major summer festivals, including Download Festival, alongside an extensive run of arena and amphitheater shows across the U.S. and beyond. Stay tuned—Rise Against is only getting louder.
