South London indie stalwarts Turin Brakes have today released their evocative new single, "The Message," available now. The track is the latest offering from their upcoming 10th studio album, "Spacehopper," set to drop on May 23rd via Cooking Vinyl.

"The Message" is a reflective and melodic journey back to the band members' shared youths in the 80s and 90s. Frontman Olly Knights explains, "It’s about our shared youths in the 80s and 90s. Our love for FM radios, the freedom of our bikes, and the exhilarating sense of anticipation we felt when we tuned in to something wild and thrilling happening in the world." He also touches on the perceived "wasting time" of those analogue days, suggesting it was crucial for creativity and adventure.

Originally conceived during sessions for their previous album, "The Message" took longer than anticipated to fully form but ultimately found its perfect place as the opening track on "Spacehopper." The album marks a significant milestone for Turin Brakes, arriving over 24 years after their Mercury Prize-nominated debut, "The Optimist LP."

Produced by the band alongside Grammy-winning Guy Massey (known for his work with Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran), "Spacehopper" sees Turin Brakes in a reflective mood, revisiting Konk Studios where they recorded their debut after a 25-year absence. Knights describes the new record as "totally its own thing" while acknowledging subtle nods to their beginnings.

Adding to the excitement, Turin Brakes have also announced they will be special guests on 80s icons Deacon Blue's autumn arena tour throughout September and October. Following this, they will embark on their own headline tour across the UK and Ireland, kicking off on November 7th with support from Tom Speight.
