A point Gorgon City never ceases to make is the importance of the vocalists who accompany them. This makes them different as producers. The quality is turned up a notch due to top quality vocals.
Throughout the night, talents Josh Barry, Janai and Lulu James beautifully reinforced Gorgon’s deserved space in the dance music world.
Naturally, the majority of gig go-ers were there to see Gorgon, ergo the few empty spaces in the crowd as the night got going around 8pm. However, Anushka and Lovebox-famed Klose One proved it would take minimum effort to get the small venue pumped up despite an initial issue with lighting earlier on in the set.
After seeing Gorgon City for the third time this evening, both previous occasions being at Victoria Warehouse during Warehouse Project and a Vevo event, I realised that this time, I could truly appreciate the airwaves that were being pumped through this thankfully unique venue. It was all so intimate and everyone was buzzing off each other.
Having worked with remarkable artists such as Jennifer Hudson and Maverick Sabre, the boys have nothing short of an impressive track record, proving to be a hit amongst fellow musicians as well as their ever-growing fan base.
Rumoured heavily to be playing 2015’s Parklife festival, their gig at The Ritz seemed to be the perfect teaser. Tracks such as “Falling”, and the last gift in the form of ‘Ready for your love’ was an apt finale for Matt and Kye’s eclectic, energy packed show.
At the end of Gorgon’s set, the crowd’s thirst for more, familiar material was evident as chants poured out from every angle. ‘We want more!’ echoed as well as ‘Gorgon, Gorgon, Gorgon!’
Alas, the band would have to retire to relaxation at some point, as similarly to the seemingly fast paced show, the pair is undoubtedly flying forward with success. Full speed ahead, we say!
