There can be no more suitable music accompaniment to a warm and wet Friday night in London than Marina Elderton (aka UV) full-to-bursting at St Pancras Old Church.
Previously focal point of KULL and electronic duo White Russia, tonight see’s her debut performance as UV. Backed by a dapperly dessed band, Marina, wearing a flowing white bridal gown, is a front woman you struggle to take you’re eyes off. Channeling Stevie Nicks in both stage wear and angelic on-stage persona, during parts of tonight set it feels like she’s floating across the stage.
The combination of the visuals and the music, with the added bonus of such a beautiful venue, is a perfect. Lifting music from her just released debut EP ‘Defender’, tonight is a masterclass in ethereal dream-pop. With Marina’s haunting vocals draped over interlaced harmonies, floating guitar strands, electronic textures and pulsing rhythms, recent singles ‘Wilt’ and ‘Defender’ sound perfect.
The whole UV set passes with a sense of haunting majesty. A very special debut from a hugely talent musician.
