In 1992, American alternative rock band Nada Surf formed in New York City. They released their debut single, ‘The Plan’/’Telescope’ in 1994. 30 years later, and for most of that period, Nada Surf has retained the same core line-up: Matthew Caws (vocals, guitar), Daniel Lorca (bass, vocals), and Ira Elliot (drums).

Defining popular culture from the early 2000’s onwards with their legendary discography, their breakthrough album within the UK was ‘Let Go’. Their heartfelt single ‘Inside of Love’ charted in our official top 100 in May 2003. Their last and ninth studio album was ‘Never Not Together’ (2020). Four years later, we’re ecstatic to say, Nada Surf’s new material has dropped.

‘In Front of Me Now’ is the first single from their new album, 'Moon Mirror' out this September. As with all their material, there is a timelessness to this track. Starting with Matthew on electric guitar, his gleaming intro leads into an uplifting alternative pop synth melody. After 3 decades of playing together, they have harmonies for days. They know how to captivate and immerse their listeners, using catchy poetic lyrical rhythms to bring it all together.

One of their many talents as musicians has been their ability to connect with their fans and new audiences. Nada Surf presents us with a song about living life in the present, after being regrettably absent. To quote one of his universal, and generation defining lines about his own mental state: “Why wasn't I present? I could have been living.”

This song and Matthew’s honest and perceptive lyrics will undoubtedly strike a chord with many.
