Strange things really do happen on Friday the 13th.
The recent reunion of Oasis has been such a success that some may have forgotten that the band originally fell apart when Oasis band brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher, came to blows onstage in 2009. Something that rarely happens in front of a live audience.
Jane's Addiction, who has been touring with the original lineup, imploded onstage during their concert at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, Massachusetts on September 13, 2024 and Music-News.com were on hand to witness then confrontation.
Things got physical onstage as singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro got into a heated physical confrontation (where Farrell took a poke at Navarro). A few quick-thinking roadies broke things up pretty quickly, but the situation caused the show to end abruptly after nine songs.
Bassist Eric Avery and drummer (and birthday boy) Stephen Percy looked as confused as the audience as they prematurely waved goodbye to the crowd.
The situation was unfortunate as the band's set was going pretty well.
Opening with "Kettle Whistle", "Whores" and "Pigs in Zen", the quartet sounded great (though, Farrell's voice was definitely giving him trouble all evening).
The classic lineup has been back together since 2022, but a bad case of Covid had kept Navarro off the road for some time.
Cool versions of "Ain't No Right", "Ted, Just Admit It..." and "Summertime Rolls" seemingly went well, as did a superb version of "Jane Says".
Avery shined as his epic bass opening led into a fantastic version of "Mountain Song". But, things then started to fall apart after "Three Day's".
A seemingly agitated Farrell started saying "F--k you" several times on the microphone during "Ocean Size". It was reported by audience members near the stage that the cursing was aimed at band members and the audience as well.
It was shortly after this that Farrell and Navarro got into it and the house lights came on and a shocked Boston crowd filed out in a state of bewilderment.
Hopefully, the band will work out whatever issues exist, as it would be a waste if Jane's Addiction were to dissolve in such a sad manner.
On a more positive note, opening act Love and Rockets put on a fantastic 45-minute set. While they are best known in the USA for their 1989 hit, "So Alive", they did a majestic version of The Temptations "Ball of Confusion" that would have made the members of Motown's best group very proud.
