It isn’t common that a new artist gives me ‘the chills’, but this single from Marcus Trummer has done exactly that. He incorporates Blues & soul into a divine song that has all the feel and depth of an old Stax track. Subtle horns, punctuation from keys and a voice that seems so much older than 23 yrs old. “Hard Time is about the fact that love is ultimately what matters and is what we need to be aimed at spreading,” says Trummer. “Our world is truly a crazy and chaotic place, with what feels like endless division, conflict, and tragedy. With all the pain and suffering out there, I believe love is the only answer. It can be easy to forget when you’re caught up in the daily grind of it all, but it truly is everything and I try to keep that in mind.”
The single is from his upcoming (and highly anticipated) new album ‘From The Start’ and is up there in the ‘single of the year’ stakes for me. Pure class
