The Octagon is completely packed out with fans filling the nearly entire room even when there’s still heaps of people stood in line at the bar.

There’s a sense of anticipation in the air, I haven’t been to a show where the atmosphere has felt so enthusiasm and it really is brilliant to be in the midst of.

As the stage ignites with a bright beam, and the lights lower around us, ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ is blasted out of the speakers leaving us feeling more like we’re attending a choir rehearsal then a punk concert, but of course this is just one of the openers to one of their latest songs ‘All Things’ and as the lads grace the stage, instruments in hand; the room is brought back to earth as the lads thrash at each note.

Personally, I’d have been knackered after just playing that first track but both lads are exuberating complete confidence, an energy I’ve never seen any other band demonstrate like this and it really showcase how much passion they have for their art.

Next up is ‘Mirror Muscles’ and they are both leaping and bounding around that stage like two hounds set free. I’m really enjoying their new sound; this punk heavy rock with Laurie’s electrifying riffs, combined with Isaac’s almost rapping but commanding and chanting vocals as his smashes the drums.

Despite these lads sounding ferocious when they play, they also care about their fans and made sure to call out some idiot who was acting strange and ruining in it for other fans, although due to being further back I couldn’t see the situation, but it demonstrates how much they value the people who gave them this success and for that I commend Soft Play so much.

Throughout the night we got some old fan favourites including ‘Beauty Quest’, ‘Spit It Out’, ‘The Hunter’ and a new fan favourite ‘Punk’s Dead’ which sent all the fans flying, smashing, crashing into each other with beers in the air and the linger of sweat.

What a brilliant show by these two lads!
