Local lad Harry Lyon is the first to grace the Sidney and Matilda stage. Throughout his acoustic set, he displays a great stage presence and appears confident in his ability to captivate a room with his sound which is evidence through the crowd fixed gazing as he performs. A set of brilliant songs and a distinct sound made for a great start to the evening.
Next up, we have our headliners of the night, Balancing Act. The four-piece enter the stage to a warm Sheffield welcome as the crowd gathers around the stage embracing them with open arms.
As we work our way through the set, the band treat us to an array of tracks which vary in sound-influences from an era Suck It and See by AM to heavy Kings of Leon vibe coursing through each riff.
One of the clear fan favourite, just from the crowd’s reaction during this set, was ‘AWOL’ off their latest EP titled ‘Tightropes and Limericks’ released towards to end of last year.
The frontman stage presence was astounding while performing this one, and mirrored the same passion as the crowd who were belting out the lyrics back at him. Similarly, this also felt like a great standalone moment from the gig as a whole, seeing this band’s immense connection played out in real time before our eyes, faces beaming with a shared passion of the art they create and each giving it everything they’ve got.
After their brilliant performance, Balancing Act shared a few words about this Sheffield show and their love for this city: “Sheffield got quite special for us after Tramlines Festival after playing a show which none of us expected to go as amazing as it did.
“It’s a breeding ground for breaking musicians!”
