Savoy Brown were one of the finest Blues/rock outfits for many, many years and the final incarnation of Kim Simmonds, and Rhythm Section consisting of Pat De Salvo on Bass, and Garnet Grimm on drums was one of the best.

Following Simmonds sad death in 2022, Sean Chambers, who got his start as the guitarist in Hubert Sumlin’s band and was acclaimed as one of the top 50 guitarists in the world by Guitarist magazine, hooked up with DeSalvo and Grimm – with the approval of Simmonds himself.

So, the result here is a three piece Blues/Rock outfit captured live. In my humble opinion, a three piece band is the best for the genre, and with a hard as nails rhythm section fronted by a superb guitarist/vocalist, heaven ensues.

Sean Chambers guitar playing is classic – heavy riffs and lots of solos – and his vocals are clear, this guy can actually sing the words and make himself understood, something a lot of guitarists should learn to do.
The material here ranges from Chambers’ past material as well as a few Savoy Brown songs and a superb version of Rory Gallagher’s ‘Bullfrog Blues’.
I particularly enjoyed the opener ‘Cobra’ – a monster, high speed instrumental – and Savoy Brown’s ‘Street Corner Talking’.
There isn’t a weak track and Chambers really does show why he got the plaudits from all the critics and reviewers.

This is the epitome of Blues/Rock and there isn’t a wasted second – a terrific release.
