The downstairs room in Sidney and Matilda is nothing short of rammed tonight with a sea of punters anticipating the arrival of tonight’s performer Chloe Slater.
A star who is rising at a vigorous pace in the industry, everyone eyes marvel at the stage for her big entrance, and as she enters the room the crowd go wild, giving her a big steel-city welcome.
Slater kicks off the set with ‘Sucker’, an upbeat instrumental alongside gritty lyrics that are enticing and keep the crowd engaged.
Our next track of the evening is ‘Tiny Screens’ with a relentless, gritty bass and the guiding beat of a drum that has the venue shaking and the tension rising downstairs. The crowd absolutely lap this one up and she is met with a tremendous outpour of adoration from the crowd as this one finishes.
As I look around the room I can tell everyone is clearly enjoying every minute of this set, and then we’re treated to an unreleased tune titled ‘Harriet’. This one also goes down a treat with the crowd, maybe a slight change in pace as this one is more ballad-like like, but paired with an air of seduction makes this one go down a treat.
One of the most pinnacle parts of the evening is when we arrive a cover of ‘Friday I’m In Love’ by The Cure. A song everyone adores, especially people who have come to listen to Chloe’s genre and she absolutely does this track justice from start to finish.
The set finishes on ‘Fig Tree’ one of Slater’s most popular songs with relatable lyrics that everyone can apply to their own lives feels like a great way to finish off a superb show.
