Toronto’s Crown Jewel, The Beaches, are back with a new single ahead of the release of their new album ‘No Hard Feelings’, and they are at the top of their game with momentum coursing through every chord.

‘Last Girls at the Party’ burst into action playfully, chanting “Gonna be the last girls at the party” followed by a sleek and stylish irresistible riff.

As we move into the first verse, the lyrics resonate with every 20 something girl who hasn’t had quite enough fun yet, as Jordan belts out our internal daily monologues ‘I'm not gonna slow down / I'll never look as hot as I do now’.

Compared to the previous songs by this band, there’s a sense of a heavy rock style to their sound which I adore, a kind of Haim meets Pale Waves vibe.

For me, the most insane part of the whole song is the bridge. The Beaches have consistently created pristine bridges since they started but this one is so distinctively then. As we’re the building up the final chorus, the chanting returns with the band in unison surrounded by the banging drums and rumbling bass, singing ‘It's only two, right? / It's only three, right? / It's only four, right? / It's only five, right? / It's only six, right? / It's only seven, right? / It's only eight, right?’.

The tension rises through each count until we circle back to ‘Gonna be the last girls at the party’ – it’s one you know will be a fan favourite live, sending the crowd bursting into energy but the same energy is mirrored and replicated just listening to this solo through your headphones cementing this track as the perfect pay off.

Following the release of their previous album ‘Blame My Ex’ it was hard to see how the band could possibly top this, but with tracks like ‘Jocelyn’, ‘Takes One To Know One’, and now ‘Last Girls at the Party’ all release ahead of their new album, it confirms The Beaches are not just back, but better than ever.
