On the evening of April 11, 2025, Louis Dunford concluded his 'Be Lucky' UK and Ireland tour with a performance at London's Alexandra Palace. The Great Hall was filled with 10,000 attendees, a diverse mix spanning every age group.
Dunford took to the stage in his signature pearly king suit, accompanied by a six-piece band. The set kicked off with 'Superman,' followed by 'Bossman' and '1999' - see our exclusive video footage below. Throughout the performance, Dunford engaged the audience with candid anecdotes, introducing 'Regretamine' by recounting a personal experience:
"Every song I sing for you tonight is a true story, happy or sad. This is a true story of a night I thought was sniffing a line of cocaine, but it wasn't."
That's his appeal in a snapshot, honest real life lyrics, wrapped up in some decent tunes.
The setlist featured tracks from his debut album, 'Be Lucky,' including 'Boys Do Cry,' 'Queer,' and 'Rave Now Die Later.' Dunford prefaced 'The Unlucky Ones' with a reflection on his past:
"I spent about a decade of my life doing drugs. I'm a good boy now. I got through relatively unscathed, but some of my friends didn't make it through as well."
Chants of "When I say Ally you say Pally" were dotted throughout the set and setlist paper planes thrown to the audience, Dunford clearly relishing his time on the big stage.
Midway through the concert, Dunford performed a cover of 'Free From Desire,' moving across the stage and encouraging audience participation. A poignant moment arose during 'Ballad of Benjamin,' dedicated to his friend Ben Kinsella, who was tragically stabbed to death at 16 on a night out with him as they celebrated finishing their GCSE’s. Performing the song solo, under the glow of phone lights held aloft by the audience, he concluded:
"God bless Ben Kinsella."
Before the encore, Dunford introduced 'When We Were Hooligans' with a nod to his mother, actress Linda Robson, in the crowd:
"This one's for my mum. I know I was a c**t growing up, but here I am."
The encore featured 'The Angel,' a tribute to his North London roots, and now adopted as an anthem by supporters at his beloved Arsenal F.C., higher praise would be hard to find. Dunford expressed gratitude to his family, the audience, and the late Jamal Edwards, before closer 'The Local' stating:
"I am the luckiest man on earth. Be lucky, North London."
Tonight was a highlight in a career which I’m sure will soon scale new heights. We all look forward to the next instalment.
