One of the pioneers of women-led rock bands, Heart has been active in one way or another since 1973. Led by sisters (and Seattle, Washington natives) Ann and Nancy Wilson, Heart is akin to Aerosmith, as they both had stellar careers in the '70s and re-emerge in the mid-'80s to even greater successes.
Heart performed to a full house on April 13, 2025 at the state-of-the-art Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts (USA).
Out of the gate, Heart opened with a killer mix of classics with 1980's underrated "Bebe Le Strange" and the Top 5 charting single (in 1985) "Never". They quickly returned to their 70's heyday with "Magic Man", "Love Alive" and the title cut from their brilliant 1977 album, "Little Queen."
The mega-smash "These Dreams", took the crowd back to 1985-'86, when Heart's second stage of their career was in overdrive and their voices and images were in high rotation on radio and MTV.
Nancy's rhythm guitar skills were evident all night, but she really shined when she recreated the opening acoustic strumming which, led into a furious "Crazy on You".
An acoustic set began with the lyrically introspective, "Dog & Butterfly" (literally based on Ann Wilson scoping her dog chasing a butterfly in vain) and led into an immaculate take of "Dreamboat Annie" (also the title of arguably Heart's best album).
Keeping with the acoustic theme, the sisters did a stellar cover of Led Zeppelin's "Going to California". Ann's voice is still a powerhouse, and it was a reminder of the time when Heart did a version of "Stairway to Heaven" at The Kennedy Center Honors in 2012, which literally brought Robert Plant to tears.
Wrapping up the set with "Mistral Wind" and a medley of "Alone" and "What About Love", Heart returned for a three- song encore with "Sand", a cover of a Lovemongers song (the Lovemongers are a side Heart project), another take of a Led Zeppelin track with "The Ocean" and ended brilliantly with a blistering version of "Barracuda".
While Seattle is most identified with grunge bands and Jimi Hendrix, Heart proved again they are also one of the best acts from one of rock's most fabled cities.
