19-year-old Ellis J Barraclough showcases a rare blend of mature songwriting and youthful charm with his second single, 'Blasphemy'.
Already a fan favourite through local shows, ‘Blasphemy’ has a warm, wide-ranging appeal that will introduce Ellis to new audiences.
Its jangly acoustic singer-songwriter style is driven by radiant summer soundtrack melody, with Ellis’s voice sparkling with a beguilingly bright pop edge. But there’s a depth to it too, with a melancholy lyric about love, regrets and moving on that provides the counterpoint to its sunny disposition. The song was written solely by Ellis and was produced by Vincent Garcia.
“It was a time when I felt really confused and everything in my life seem to come with a thousand questions and I didn't have any of the answers" said Ellis.
The ‘Blasphemy’ video further highlights Ellis’s future star potential. His performance captures his personality - the natural bonhomie and relaxed vibe of a man with quiet self-confidence in what he does. And the setting certainly helps unlock that vibe, with the performance having been filmed on the canals of Venice.
Having until now primarily performed solo, Ellis J Barraclough will debut his new five-piece live band The Sunscreen with headline show and the Hull Social on May 22nd.
He is also confirmed for the Off The Tracks Festival in Castle Donington at the end of August.
