Godfathers Recordings (label)

With the state of the world at present, I am shocked as to just how few bands are genuinely angered. At least The Godfathers are still out there, representing the feelings of so many of us.
The Godfathers are currently celebrating 40 years as a band and this collection of tracks is drawn from their last three albums, ‘Jukebox Fury’, ‘A Big Bad Beautiful Noise’ and ‘Alpha Beta Gamma Delta’. Personally curated by band front man Peter Coyne, it really shows The Godfathers to be almost the only true Punk/Mod bands left.
There are tracks from the previous lineups and also from the new lineup after the split in 2019.
As a soundtrack to the summer of 2025, it is about perfect.
Songs about alienation, compulsion, anger and fear, all set to a staccato rhythm and presented with the snarling vocals of Peter Coyne.
Short, sharp shocks, delivered with aggression and snap. All the trademarks that have served The Godfathers for 40 years.
And yet, there is a remarkable musical ability there as well. No matter what the line up, they have always been excellent exponents of rock music.
Just listen to ‘the Outsider’ – a whispering keyboard backs wandering guitars and a machine gun rhythm section to create a genuinely unsettling vision of alienation from society. And all done in less than 3 minutes.
18 tracks, including some Godfathers classics, and every one a gem.
