We arrive at Heaven after 8.30, just as the venue is filing up, it’s a great setting situated beneath the Craven Street arches, although I have to say that the beer on tap was flat, so we suck from the bottle instead.

Gold Silvers were the main support tonight and the crowd reflrcted this in their aqttire of checked and tartan with their newly unaligned quiffs. The bands dress wear is a tug-of-war between 1960s psychedelia and 1980s camp. Singer and keyboardist has a brill-creamed quiff and is surely no more than 21, yet dressed from decades he would never had seen. The Bass player sported a droopy 'tache, I did like his velvet red jumper though,

Golden Silvers are an intriguing London three-piece who combine romantic doo-wop harmonies with deadpan vocals, Britpop bounciness and strangeness nicely. The sound set up makes up for anything that may sound slightly off as the acoustics are simply wonderful the band are simply not, you almost feel like you're in a sombre mood waiting for something to happen, it never did. The band however did seem to lift slightly towards the end of their set. Gold's voice is nasal with not quite the efficiency of Billy Bragg, anyway that’s enough on them i've wasted too much already.

Ok the crowd are now all crammed under the arch waiting for the south London soul boy Jack , and its been a while, a year since last playing on home soil he announces, wearing a white shirt and 80's style blue jacket. On stage he breaks into a new tune from his eagerly awaited second album, as usual he does not disappoint with catchy soulful riffs, and now a band in tow. The mood lifts and people are in high sprits, his distinctive voice and petite frame jives in time to his own sounds. The crowd was right there with him, singing along from the outset to "Have I been a fool" and "Torn from the platform", nonetheless, some were unsure of the news songs as with any new album that's not been introduced to some ears. We had a taster of what's to come, and a teaser of what we already new, he came he went he did not disappoint, and if the new tunes we heard tonight are what we are to expect from the forthcoming release then please bring it on!! We need this Jack back in our lives.
