Gravenhurst delivered a support performance of headline measures. They truly laid down the gauntlet of emotion for Juana Molina (the headline act). Quite how the small select crowd remained largely seated and motionless is beyond me. On stage Simon and Garfunkel shook hands with Radiohead in a calming, soothing explosion of feeling. A reminder of how effective a 3 piece can be. The drums were compelling and necessary, and built many a crescendo. The haunting vocals, atmospheric guitar and sensitive bass work combined gloriously. They closed their short set (all too prematurely) with a cover of The Kinks ‘See My Friends', climaxing to a hypnotic frenzy. This won't be the last time I see Gravenhurst.

To surpass the musical feast that was Gravenhurst Juana Molina not only had to pull a rabbit out of the hat, but had to follow it with the entire cast of Watership Down. The start was promising her slender frame offered a passionate and promising performance. The music questioning, Juana made her melancholic guitar sound echo through the attentive Bush Hall audience. As the beers flowed I found myself drawn more to her long flowing hair than to her music. I'd certainly like to see her again, but not necessarily playing guitar.
