The Feeling are back with a vengeance. Currently promoting their fourth album (Boy Cried Wolf), the BRIT award-nominated band are live on tour. Playing at the iconic Shepherds Bush Empire, a haven for bands of the true kind, the night stamped the return of this successful English pop rock band.
The Feeling consists of lead vocalist Dan Gillespie Sells, bassist Richard Jones, Kevin Jeremiah and drummer Paul Stewart. Since they first burst on to the music scene they have cultivated a mature fan base and a set of dedicated followers. Opening the gig with the new song Blue Murder, they were suitably greeted with a rapturous applause from the appreciative crowd. Taking the audience through some of their all-time favourites, including Fill My little World, Leave Me Out of It, Rose and Never Be Lonely, it was an evening of well rehearsed live entertainment from the band. Some further new songs they performed included Anchor and Rescue.
Lead by Gillsespie Sells on lead vocals and with the supporting accompaniment of fellow members, there was also a surprise guest appearance from Sophie Ellis Bexter who suddenly appeared at the left hand balcony, to duet on the song Leave Me Out of It – a somewhat theatrical moment! Indeed this was not the only spin of night. The band also treated the crowd to a medley of popular indie and rock songs from bands such as Blur and The Kinks. Further highlights of the evening included a waving frenzy from the crowd during Never Be Lonely, a sing-along moment during Rose and suitably ending the night with the classic Love It When You Call.
Overall, The Feeling know how to deliver and can definitely put on an entertaining show. The crowd involvement was good, Dan’s vocals were strong and crisp and the accompanying band member’s musical instruments were on point. It’ll be interesting to see how the fourth album fairs in comparison to their earlier albums. Good show!
