Long before the lasers lit up Sherwood Forest and basslines echoed through the Michigan pines, Electric Forest was merely a dream sown in the soil of Rothbury. The story begins in 1955 when Walter “Wally” Wojack planted the very trees that would one day cradle a festival unlike any other. His vision transformed the Double JJ Ranch into a haven for connection and creativity, setting the stage for what was to come.

Fast forward to 2008, the inaugural Rothbury Festival emerged, blending jam bands and electronic acts in a groundbreaking fusion. With performances by The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, and even Snoop Dogg, it was clear that Rothbury was more than a music festival—it was a movement.

After a brief hiatus in 2010, the festival was reborn in 2011 as Electric Forest, co-produced by Madison House Presents and Insomniac Events. This new incarnation embraced its roots while pushing boundaries, creating an immersive experience where music, art, and nature coalesced.

Over the years, Electric Forest has evolved, introducing hidden stages, interactive installations, and surprise performances that keep attendees enchanted. The festival's commitment to sustainability and community engagement has only deepened its impact, fostering a culture of inclusivity and environmental consciousness.

As we approach Electric Forest 2025, we honor the legacy of those who planted the seeds—both literal and metaphorical—that have blossomed into this unparalleled celebration. From Wally's trees to the beats that now reverberate through them, Electric Forest stands as a testament to the power of vision, community, and the enduring magic of music.
