Carrie Underwood’s dog is to be the ring-bearer at her wedding.

The country singer – who is set to marry ice hockey star Mike Fisher this summer – treats her beloved Chihuahua Ace like a child so thinks it is only right he is involved in the bridal party.

She said: “He'll be one of the ring-bearers. I don't know if I'll give him the actual ring. He would probably run away with it or eat it or something.

"He's like my kid. It would be like if I was getting married and I had a child - of course my child would be in the wedding!"

The 27-year-old star – who got engaged to the 29-year-old sportsman last December – also revealed she is delighted with the early designs for her wedding dress.

She told Usmagazine.com: “The dress is in the works... it's very much in the beginning stages, but it's very me. It's girly and it's pretty and simple and glamorous."

Carrie recently revealed she and Mike have decided not to have a traditional wedding cake but will serve individual sweet treats to their guests instead.

She said: "We're kind of doing cupcakes. I consider myself a very traditional person. More than anything, we're going to get married, that's the important part. And we want everyone to have a good time, so we're doing some things like that, that are a little bit different."
