Michael Jackson spent almost £30,000 a month on prescription drugs.

The singer reportedly consumed "mountains of medication" in the year leading up to his death last week.

Many prescriptions were purchased under the fictitious name Omar Adams.

Others were paid for by the singer, but prescribed in the names of his aides and nurses.

Britain's The Sun newspaper reports the singer - who died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest in his Los Angeles home - was taking narcotic pain killer Vicodin, muscle relaxant Soma, sedative Xanax, antidepressant Zoloft, anti-anxiety drug Paxil and heartburn pill Priolosec at the time of his death.
