MUSE COULD be ready to release their next album this autumn which will be followed by a European tour.

An insider close to the prog rockers' record label Warners claimed today that their fifth studio album is slated for a September release.

The information was posted on Muse fan site Microcuts.net which thanked a Warner associate for the tip-off.

In November last year bassist Chris Wolstenholme told fans "it would be nice" for the band to be able to release the album "in the second half" of 2009.

But he added that they were not working to a strict schedule and it was "more important for us to make the best album we have made to date".

He added: "If that means it comes out in 2010 then we don't mind".
