One Little Indian is happy to announce that Alabama 3 will be releasing their new single ‘Lockdown’ from their new album ‘M.O.R’ to be released 10th of September.
The single due out on the 20th of August, will be in aid of the charity MOJO (The Miscarriages of Justice Organisation). All the profits of the single will be going to the charity.
Alabama 3 are nine rough and ever-ready souls from Brixton and beyond, and they are back to steal your children.
The band's nucleus of Rob Spragg and Jake Black met three decades ago now, towards the end of the 1980s at a south London house party. Both were, shall we say, *happy* in a manner entirely fitting with the era, and in their late night addled state came up with the idea of forming a band together. Spragg would become Larry Love, and Black The Very Reverend Dr D. Wayne Love. They would assume American accent for now and ever more, and would mostly conceal their bloodshot eyes behind wraparound sunglasses. They would take as their essence classic American blues rock and extend off in any direction their whims took them. It was a plan, and they ran with it.
They have been called, amongst other things, "the best live band in Britain." Their music has graced everything from The Sopranos to The Simpsons, and their heady combination of techno and C&W, alongside a proclivity for rock 'n' roll decadence and an acute social conscience means that they are effectively a unique entity in modern music.
‘Lockdown’, is about the UK's increasingly hapless prison system, and highlights the band's ongoing work with the Miscarriage of Justice Organisation.
