Evanescence’s highly anticipated self–titled album topped the Billboard album charts in the US, it also made the No 2 spot in Canada, and No. 4 in the UK – where it is now certified Silver. The first single from the album ‘What You Want’ has already notched up over 11 million views. Now they are set to release a new single on January 16th 2012.
Entitled “My Heart Is Broken”, it was recorded in Nashville’s Blackbird Studios, and produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush, Deftones). Singer Amy Lee said “Originally I intended to play harp on this song, but as it developed I changed over to the piano. I love this song, the emotional outpouring is kind of honest”. It will be available on CD and as a download.
This is the second time the multi-platinum and Grammy winning rock band have topped the US chart. The band previously reached this spot with their sophomore release, 2006’s ‘The Open Door’. Since its October 11th release, the band’s first album in five years, ‘Evanescence’ also reached No. 1 on the iTunes Rock, U.K. and German download charts.
"What can I say, we're thrilled about it! We made an album that we're really proud of and now we get to watch it fly. We weren't expecting this and we're just so grateful to our fans," said Amy Lee.
Following a sold out US tour, Evanescence have just finished playing sold out shows in the UK, France, and Germany. Lead singer, Amy Lee recently introduced the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast and the band also played at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo earlier this month.
