The rather tenuous reunion of Hole that was discussed earlier this year by Courtney Love now seems to be off.
At the beginning of April, Love told The Quietus that she, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Eric Erlandson and Patty Schemel were rehearsing new material for a Hole reunion. A week later, she told the Telegraph "We may have made out but there is no talk of marriage. It’s very frail, nothing might happen, and now the band are all flipping out with me."
Now, in a new interview with the Philippine's Inquirer, Love says there is no reunion. Courtney did say she is collaborating with group guitarist Eric Erlandson but that there would not be a tour by the original band.
I don’t want to get on the oldies circuit. I don’t need to do that for money. I want to put out music that is relevant today. [Being] one of the last chicks in a rock ‘n’ roll band is a weird place to be. It’s scary not to be selling out. I got presents from my mentors, Bono and Michael Stipe, yesterday. I have a heavy mentor-near disciple relationship with Bono and Michael Stipe.
I got presents from them yesterday. I looked at the year on the bottle of wine from Bono. It was my birth year; I couldn’t believe it. I was like, holy moly! It’s tough to put Hole back together and make sure that it’s relevant.
Love also revealed in the interview that the Kurt Cobain biopic should start "within a year or so".
