Jennifer Lawrence reportedly felt there were three people in her relationship with Chris Martin.
The Hollywood actress was first linked to Chris over the summer, but it's thought they recently parted ways.
Rumours have started to circulate that Chris is reconciling with estranged wife Gwyneth Paltrow, after photos surfaced of them enjoying an intimate meal together recently. And it seems these snaps cemented Jennifer's decision to call it quits.
"It appears that Jen felt like there were three people in the relationship and, if she'd been wondering about their future, it seems the pictures made the decision for her," a source revealed to British magazine Grazia.
Since Gwyneth and Chris announced they were "consciously uncoupling" in March, they've remained close for their children Apple and Moses.
Their bond apparently got too much for X-Men actress Jennifer, who is said to have felt overwhelmed at times.
"Obviously, Jen decided it couldn't carry on. It seems she and Chris struggled to find time to be alone, free from distraction. If it wasn't Gwyneth calling, it'd be one of the nannies or an assistant. It comes as no surprise if Jen found this suffocating.
Gwyneth naturally wants 'family time' and Chris needs to see the kids, but Jen must have found it a very awkward situation to be in," the insider continued.
Although Jennifer is said to be upset about the split, she's got her plate full with movie commitments right now, providing a welcome distraction.
The latest instalment of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, hits cinemas later this month and the 24-year-old has also been filming X-Men: Apocalypse.
"Jen will be sad about breaking up with Chris. He was there for her through a difficult time, when her nude photos were leaked. They also clearly had fun together. But she's the realistic sort and will be sanguine about why it wouldn't work," the source said.
